What Type of Spirit Are You?  TAKE THE QUIZ

Why Your Inner Child Unlocks Your Intuition

Want stronger intuition and more creativity? Start by reconnecting with your inner child.

I’m going to share some grounded tools on how to reconnect with your inner child, unlock your intuition, and create more fun, presence, and spontaneity in your life.

Your inner child is the key to unlocking your intuition, superpowering your life, and bringing in more fun, spontaneity, creativity, and pleasure.

So, what is your inner child?

Your inner child is your subconscious connection to yourself as a little kid. It’s the seat of your imagination, your power, your intuition, and your fun.

Your inner child is your subconscious connection to you as a little kid. This is where we form thoughts, beliefs, and patterns. It’s connected to your spontaneity, fun, creativity, your ability to connect to yourself, the divine, and the world around you.

We’re suffering from an epidemic of seriousness and productivity. This idea that we have to “do it right.” Our ego selves get wrapped up in being perfect, in doing a good job and that disconnects us. We get stuck in our heads, overthinking, trying to figure it all out, afraid to look stupid.

But all of that (the ego stuff) is actually a shield around our heart space. It disconnects us from deeper listening and the present moment, where our intuition lives.

Let me give you an example.

I had a client recently, a banker.

She told me, “I feel like I’ve been sleepwalking through my life. I did everything right. I have this great job, I work in corporate, I love what I do, it’s a lot of numbers and figuring things out. But I can’t seem to connect to my intuition. I’m following all the steps, reading all the books, taking all the courses. What can I do?

The first thing I noticed? Her energy was serious. Intuition, for her, had become another “serious subject”, something to be figured out and studied.

But the ego and intellect, the part of us that tries to organize the world, have no access to deeper listening. It doesn’t lead us to creativity, real solutions, or the joy under the surface.

So, I gave her homework: What did you love to do as a child?

At first, she was confused. “I’m not sure,” she said.

The next week, she came back and said, “You know what? I used to love imagining and drawing. Painting. I used to create whole worlds.”

So we started there.

We opened up that space of imagination and used it as the portal for intuitive listening, just like she did as a kid.

First rule: There is no right or wrong answer. Just what feels good for me right now.

That’s also the foundation of trusting your intuition.

We started asking, “What does my spirit want me to know right now?” And she used her imagination to answer, not her logic. At first, it felt weird.

She said it was like wearing an old suit jacket that didn’t quite fit. So I said, “Come up with 40 things. Just try.”

At first? Her head answered: “My spirit wants me to play.”

But as she kept going and relaxed into the process, something new popped out:

“Take a salsa class.”

That hit her body with a yes. That was her intuitive guidance. It felt fun and wildly different from anything she’d normally do—Hallmark signs of intuitive truth.

So, how are the inner child and intuition connected?

Your inner child is your subconscious, the part of you below the thinking mind. It’s the playful, creative, spontaneous, present part of you, and that’s also where your intuition lives.

Intuition connects dots we can’t logically see. It comes up with surprising solutions. It’s present, it’s listening, and it always leads us to our highest good.

And honestly? Following intuition is often fun because it puts us on an adventure.

So when we bring curiosity into our spiritual lives, just being available and aware, it changes everything.

Start Here:

Take a moment and check in with your inner child.

How serious has life gotten lately?

How much of your energy is spent trying to do things right, avoiding mistakes, managing how you’re perceived?

If you’re constantly performing, perfecting, or pushing—chances are, your inner child is feeling a bit neglected. Maybe even completely locked away.

Let’s change that.

Reconnect.

Grab a photo of yourself as a kid. Just look at them—really look. Anchor into that energy.

Then ask yourself:

✨ What did I love to do when no one was watching?

✨ How did I play?

✨ What made me light up inside?

This isn’t just a sweet trip down memory lane.

This is a golden thread back to your heart—the place your intuition actually speaks from.

Your inner child holds the keys to your creativity, your joy, and your ability to feel your way through life. This connection is pure magic. It’s not fluff—it’s your power source. The portal. The supercharger for manifesting anything and everything that truly aligns.

Even small things matter. Did you like imagining? Go lie in the park and look at the clouds. Did you love dress-up? Put on your favorite outfit and have fun. Did you draw? Get a notebook and just doodle.

And instead of asking, “Is this good?”

Ask: “How does this feel?”

If it feels good, keep going. If not, do something else.

These are the same principles for following your intuition.

When you play and create, the self-conscious part of you starts to fade. And that’s the part that’s always trying to protect itself. When that eases, you become open to what’s next.

Let me share a quick study I saw:

In a big auditorium, adults were asked to sketch the person next to them in 30 seconds.

When they showed their drawings, they immediately apologized.

“Oh, this doesn’t look like you.” “Sorry, this is terrible…”

But when they asked kids to do the same thing?

The kids said:

“Wow! Look what I made!”

“Isn’t this cool?”

That’s the difference. No censorship. Just pure joy and expression.

What we create is a connection to the divine; it’s a manifestation of our spirit.

And living an intuitive life? It includes a lot of play and fun.

This Week’s Invitation:

Nurture your inner child. Have fun. Eat cereal for breakfast. Have dessert first. Dress up. Play. And just notice:

  • Do you allow it?
  • Do you get afraid or overwhelmed?

If you do, use my favorite grounding tool:

One hand on your heart, one on your belly.

Take a few deep breaths. Connect to the moment.

You’re safe.

Then, create. Imagine. Let it flow.
