Healing Spiritual Burnout: How to Spot the Signs and Reconnect!

Let’s talk about spiritual burnout—what it is, and how to spot the signs and symptoms

And most importantly, how to find your way back to presence, joy, and connection with your spirit.

First Things First—Welcome!

If you’re new here, hi! I’m so glad you found your way. And if you’re returning, welcome back—it means the world to see you again. Today, I want to talk about something very real and close to my heart: spiritual burnout. I just came back from a little burnout break myself, so trust me, I totally get it.

SoWhat Is Spiritual Burnout?

Spiritual burnout is a lot like regular burnout. But instead of work or life stress being the culprit, it comes from within our spiritual practice itself.

You know you’re in it when:

  • Your spiritual practices no longer bring you joy.
  • You feel pressure, anxiety, orhave toenergy around your routines.
  • You feel disconnected—from your body, from the present moment, and from your guides.
  • You’re just tired. Your well feels dry.

When I’ve felt spiritual burnout, all I want to do is lie in bed. Don’t talk to me, don’t look at me—don’t even breathe in my direction. That’s a sure sign that I’ve been giving and givingand I forgot to give back to myself.

Why Does This Happen?

Especially in spiritual communities, we’re often empaths and natural givers. We love to support others. But that doesn’t mean we’re meant to run on empty. And in today’s world of hustle and hyper-productivity—even in the spiritual world—it’s easy to lose the thread.

You see it all over TikTok and Instagram: morning rituals, journaling routines, book clubs, meditations, moon ceremoniesand while those can be wonderful, sometimes they become just another to-do list.

And our ego (yes, even the spiritual ego!) loves to convince us that if we can just get it all right, we’ll feel better. But that’s not how true connection works.

My Own Burnout Story

You may have noticed—I disappeared for a bit. I took four weeks off: no YouTube, no Instagram, no email. Why? Because something I love deeply—this work, this world—was starting to feel heavy. My body felt tight every time I tried to create. I had no energy left to give

.

And what I realized was this: my ego-intellect was driving the bus. Not my spirit. My ego was masquerading as productivity anddedication“… but it was draining me.

When I finally unplugged, I reconnected to something sacred: rest.

Real, quiet, guilt-free rest. I started listening to my own rhythm again—not the rhythm of the algorithm or the pressure toshow up.”

Signs You Might Be Spiritually Burned Out

If you’re wondering if this is you, here are some key signs:

  • You feel tense or tight when doing your spiritual practice.
  • You hear a lot ofshould,” “have to, ormust in your thoughts.
  • You feel exhausted, unmotivated, or resistant.
  • You feel resentment or even anger.

(Pro tip: anger is sacred—it often signals where a boundary needs to be honored.)

These feelings are your spirit waving a little flag, saying: pause. reset. reconnect.

What to Do Instead

Here’s the truth: your spirit never burns you out. Your ego might. But your spirit? It nourishes.

So, if this resonates, here’s what I invite you to do:

  • Unplug. Let yourself fully rest. Guilt-free.
  • Reassess your routines. Ask: Are these serving me? Or am I serving them?
  • Get curious. Is my morning meditation still working, or would a walk feel better? Am I using routines to hide from deeper feelings?
  • Reconnect to yourwhy. Is it coming from love or fear? From your heart or your head?

Allow your practices to evolve, just like you do.

You Deserve Radical Rest

We are energetic, sensitive beings. And in a world that’s constantly shifting—from global crises to family dynamics to internal change—it’s okay to pause. In fact, it’s necessary.

So if you’re feeling burned out, take this as your permission slip to radically rest. To let go ofdoing it right. To stop forcing and start listening.

You are not behind.

You are not broken.

You are in a season—and like all seasons, it will pass.
