What Type of Spirit Are You?  TAKE THE QUIZ

3 Ways Your Spirit Guides Are Talking to You Right Now

Today, I want to talk about something near and dear to my heart: spirit guides.

—what they are, how they work, and three of the most common ways they’re probably trying to talk to you right now.

The goal? To help you trust your inner knowing, build a deeper connection with your guides, and navigate your life with more support and ease.

So What Are Spirit Guides?

Spirit guides are divine helpers that come into your life the moment you take your first breath. Along with your spirit entering your body, you’re also joined by a constellation of guides and angels who are there to help you—but only if you pay attention.

One big misunderstanding I see all the time is the idea that our guides speak in words or intellectual thoughts. They don’t. The language of spirit isn’t words—it’s vibration.

If you try to “logic” your way into communication, you’ll likely miss it. I’ve mentored people for over two decades, and what I see again and again is that they do get signs—but they overthink them. Instead of saying, “Wow, I just received something beautiful,” they go, “But how do I know for sure?”

Tool #1: Don’t Overthink It

The language of guides is both fun and subtle. It’s a listening faculty, kind of like playing I-Spy. When you start to notice the signs, you realize they’re everywhere.

Way #1: Signs and Symbols

Guides speak through signs. Things like feathers, pennies, lights flickering. These are nudges from your team.

For me, pennies are huge. My grandfather used to flip them to us and say, “In God we trust.” To this day, anytime I find a penny on the ground, I know it’s a sign of Spirit—especially when it shows up at just the right time.

Recently, I had a really stressful day. I came home, sat down at my counter, looked down and there it was. A shiny copper penny. Sure, my brain could’ve said, “Oh, maybe I just dropped it earlier,” but I knew. It was my guide saying, You’re supported.

Have you ever found something—a penny, a feather, a random object—that made you feel reassured or seen? That’s not random. That’s a message.

Way #2: Numbers

Guides also love to speak through repeating numbers—often called angel numbers.

Think 11:11 on the clock or always seeing 333, 444, or your personal lucky number. If a number keeps showing up in your life again and again, that’s a message.

A client of mine was feeling super anxious and asked her guides for a sign. Within minutes, she saw the number 26—her “magic number”—on a street sign. She sees it everywhere: on license plates, phone numbers, receipts. And when it shows up, she feels grounded again.

So pay attention to the numbers that keep appearing, especially when you’re feeling stressed or lost. That’s when our guides speak to us most clearly.

Way #3: Other People

One of the most beautiful and overlooked ways our guides communicate with us is through other people.

Ever have someone say the exact thing you needed to hear? That’s your guides working through them.

Years ago, I was walking along the lakefront in Chicago, super stressed about college decisions. I ended up chatting with an elderly man on a bench (I’m a Midwesterner—I love chit-chat), and as we wrapped up, he simply said, “Don’t worry. You’re going to do a great job.”

And my whole body just relaxed.

It was such a simple moment—but it was exactly what I needed. I felt my guides speaking right through him. I ended up choosing a school in Portland and loved it. That message gave me the nudge I needed to trust my path.

Don’t Doubt the Magic

The biggest takeaway here? Pay attention. Be open. Stop doubting yourself.

If you find a feather, don’t let your brain say, “Well, birds shed all the time.” Let your heart say, Wow, I see you, spirit. Thank you.

If it resonates, take it in.

One fun thing I’ve started doing is collecting the signs—feathers, pennies, notes. My grandmother recently passed, and while going through her things, I found a box full of pennies. I know she collected every one of those as signs from my grandfather.

Now I do the same. Every time I ask for help and find a penny, I keep it. It’s a sweet reminder that I’m not alone—and neither are you.

Tell Me Your Stories!

I’d love to hear from you—what’s one way your spirit guides have communicated with you? What was your favorite sign?

One of my favorite parts of talking about guides is how it sparks others to open up. You’ll start sharing your story, and someone else will go, “Wait, I have one too!” It’s such a beautiful ripple effect.

So go ahead, share your stories in the comments. And if you want to go deeper, check out my Spirit Guided Meditation. It’s a great tool to help you connect even more.
