Today, we're going to talk about a topic that's so relatable—how to break free when you're feeling stuck in your spiritual practices, your life, and yes, even social media.
We’ve all been there: feeling uninspired, stuck in a routine, and doing the same things over and over again without any spark of creativity. So, how do we get back to that place of connection, creativity, and expansion? Let me share what’s been helping me lately, and I hope it inspires you, too.
The Squeeze: A Personal Struggle
I wanted to dive into this topic because I’ve been feeling the squeeze myself lately. One thing that I have to do every day is manage social media, especially Instagram. Sometimes, it feels like I’m just throwing out energy, words, and tools into a void. There’s so much pressure to participate, keep up with the conversation, and keep up appearances—but here’s the truth: social media is a facade.
It’s a curated, one-dimensional version of life, and while it can be used to connect and inspire intuitive and empathic people, it often has the opposite effect. Instead of feeling inspired, it pulls us into a place of overthinking, comparing, and ultimately feeling less than.
I’m not the only one who has scrolled through Instagram, wondering if I’m doing enough, if my life is cool enough, or if I’m on the right path. The answer? Yes, you are. The truth is, comparison is the thief of joy.
Information Overload and Its Impact on Creativity
Information overload is one of the biggest culprits when it comes to feeling uninspired. Social media, emails, work, TV—our brains are constantly receiving input. And what happens when we’re overloaded?
We switch to our intellect, which, let’s face it, isn’t the most creative part of us.
Intellect is linear. It’s judgmental. It wants answers, and it compares us to others. This is where we get stuck. Creativity and intuition require us to get out of our heads and into a space where judgment doesn’t exist. You can’t create if you’re constantly worried about doing it right.
The Power of Taking a Break
When you feel uninspired, it’s a sign that you need a reset. Inspiration comes from the French word “espire,” which means “to breathe.” If you’re feeling uninspired, you’ve stopped breathing and moving with your spirit. So, what do we do about it?
Take a break. It’s okay to step away from your usual routine and re-evaluate your relationship with the things in your life, work, relationships, or spiritual practices. The key here is to avoid information overload, which can cause your mind to go into autopilot, cutting off your connection to creativity.
Shaking Things Up: How to Reconnect to Yourself
So, how do we shake things up and get out of that autopilot mode?
Over the past few weeks, I’ve been working from home, sticking to my routine. I’d wake up, get my coffee, go to my office, and spend hours working. But I realized I needed a change—something to get me out of that routine and get me moving.
I started going for a walk twice a day. Instead of taking a break on my phone or sitting on the couch, I now go for a “spirit-led walk,” where I leave room for surprises and inspiration to come to me. This simple act of changing up my routine has helped me reconnect to the present moment and, most importantly, to my intuition.
Re-evaluating Responsibilities and Priorities
Another big takeaway for me is to check in with myself and ask, Does this really matter?
When we feel uninspired or stuck, it’s often a sign that we need to reassess how we spend our time and energy. This applies to everything, from social media to work to relationships.
If something feels like a “have to” or “must,” ask yourself, Why am I doing this? Is there room for me to approach it in a new way? Even something like taking a break from Instagram can allow you to reconnect with what’s important to you.
Love, Passion, and Reigniting the Spark
One last thing I want to mention: if you’re feeling uninspired, it could be a sign that you need to reconnect with what you love. When you do things with love and passion, it automatically brings back joy, creativity, and inspiration.
If your spiritual practice feels stale, don’t abandon it. Instead, switch it up! Try something new—whether it’s dancing instead of meditating, chanting instead of doing yoga, or picking up an instrument like I’m doing. The key is to make it fun and bring back the energy that fuels your spirit.
Change is essential for growth. If you’re feeling uninspired, it’s like a plant that needs a new pot to continue growing. This is the same with our creativity and spirit—sometimes, we just need a new environment or perspective to help us flourish again.
Remember, it’s okay to pause. It’s okay to take breaks, re-evaluate your priorities, and most importantly, to let go of the pressure to do everything “right.” Reconnect to yourself, to your heart, and let that be your guide.
