Set Heart-Centered New Year's Eve Resolutions this 2025!
Today, I am going to share with you some simple tools to use your spirit and intuition instead of your intellect to set your New Year’s resolutions this year. This way, you can feel successful, have these centered in love, and create a life that feels good.
Often, this is the time when our ego and intellect go wild, setting a million different goals, making the bar incredibly high for the upcoming year.
The expectation? The best year yet.
This is the year that we’re going to do a million different things. Everything will feel amazing! But by the end of January, we often find ourselves far off-center, having forgotten not only our New Year’s resolutions but also being hard on ourselves.
Setting Heart-Centered Resolutions
First, it’s often our ego that sets resolutions based on impossible standards. When we set resolutions from our heads, we focus on what we think we should look like or be like, based on outside factors. Whether that’s how we define success, contentment, or any other external measurement, we’re setting ourselves up for failure because the expectations are too high and not centered in our heart, where our spirit resides.
When we make resolutions centered in self-love, self-worth, and deeper listening, we naturally sustain our attention and concentration, which sets us up for follow-through.
Pitfall Number One: Don’t Aim Too High
The first thing I would love for you to do is review your past year. Look at all your successes, ways you’ve grown, and how you’ve changed. When we celebrate and acknowledge what’s working, we breed more confidence in ourselves.
If you’re creating resolutions from a “should,” it’s rooted in shame, which says, “I am bad.“ This approach will not motivate you, no matter how hard you are on yourself. You will eventually run out of energy because it will never feel good enough.
By reviewing our past year, we start to affirm what we love about ourselves, lowering the bar of expectation. For example, if you want a new gym routine, don’t do it to achieve a “killer body.“ Do it because it feels good to move your body, and that will naturally breed more consistency.
If you want to create healthier relationships, start by building a healthy relationship with yourself. These simple practices will help you build momentum.
Pitfall Number Two: Get Out of Your Head
When creating your New Year’s resolutions, get out a piece of paper and a pen, and first write down all your intellect’s and ego’s ideas. Write down the goals you think you “should“ have—such as going to the gym five days a week or eating perfectly clean.
Then, take a moment to clear your mind. Root yourself into the present moment. Breathe up through your feet, inhale the support of Mother Earth, and exhale like you’re blowing out birthday candles.
Now, slowly close your eyes and bring your attention to your third eye. Imagine you’re traveling down an elevator to your heart space. This is where you’ll listen deeply to your spirit.
Ask your spirit, “What do I want to create in 2023 for my highest good?“ Wait, and see what shows up. It might be a sign, a symbol, or a word. Before your left brain starts trying to figure it out, simply sit with it and allow whatever unfolds. Let a different side of your brain guide you.
Pitfall Number Three: Foundation of Love
When creating New Year’s resolutions, make them founded in love—love for yourself, your body, and your spirit. The more you can reframe and move away from ego-driven goals, the more you will raise your vibration and connect with your spirit guides. This brings you support and keeps things simple.
Check in with your health, home life, work, relationships, and hobbies. See what has been drawing a lot of your energy and attention, and identify what needs more balance. If you identify too heavily with one aspect, like work, it sets you up for burnout. The more you can diversify your sources of support—from your guides, angels, and relationships—the more balance and joy you’ll find in the year ahead.

As for mine, I have a couple of fun ones! I’m working on creating my very first DJ set (I’ve been diving into DJing and it’s been such a blast!), and I also want to learn a couple of songs from *Sibling Quantity Two* on my guitar. The key is to make your resolutions fun, creative, and something that lights you up—it makes them so much easier to follow through on!
