I’m excited to share a simple yet powerful tool that can help you create real, meaningful changes in your life starting today.
I’ll also explain why our ego often keeps us stuck in what feels “good enough,” and how to overcome that mindset. Discipline can be your best friend and your most powerful co-creator as you imperfectly create the life your heart desires.
The Simple Tool for Change
Let’s talk about how to change your life right now. This simple tool may seem deceptively easy, but it works. Just do it.
Before you think, “But I can’t,” hold on. You can.
Day in and day out, I see clients who want to write a book, travel, build meaningful relationships, or improve their intimacy. Instead of taking action, they often get caught in a cycle of thinking and wishing for change. What they often don’t activate is their own energy and power to make decisions. Taking action is essential, regardless of whether the decision feels right or wrong.
The moment we start to act on those quiet impulses in our hearts and guts—our intuition—we create change.
Understanding the Ego
Our ego protects us from the world around us. It prefers to keep us in our comfort zones, telling us we can’t pursue our dreams. It tricks us into believing that being “fine” is enough. But “fine” often numbs our desire and keeps us stagnant.
When someone asks how you’re doing, and you respond with “I’m fine,” it reveals nothing. This numbing disconnects us from the miracle of who we are and keeps us from taking action. It makes us settle for what’s “good enough,” even when we know it isn’t.
A Real-Life Example
I had a client who got married in high school. While describing her husband as nice, she debated whether to leave.
In my intuitive work, I never tell someone to leave their marriage—that’s a significant decision. Instead, I asked how long she had felt this way. She admitted it had been four or five years. In fact, she knew at her wedding reception that this wasn’t the right fit but had been making it work.
After taking a photography class, she met individuals who reignited her passion for art and creativity. This experience led her to realize her desire for a more meaningful relationship.
Embracing Imperfection
When we decide to take action on our intuition, it can be perfectly imperfect. Embrace the messiness and recognize that making no choice is still making a choice. This is where we often get stuck.
If you want to go to the gym and feel strong, go to the gym, or you’ll never want to go. If you want to write a book, start writing.
Discipline is essential for making progress. It’s a way to love ourselves and acknowledge that “fine” isn’t good enough. We can strive for more, taking small, manageable steps.
Getting Clear on Your Desires
Get clear on what you really want. Be specific and take those tiny steps toward your goals. Make promises to yourself and follow through.
If you want to write a book, sit down and start writing. If you want to improve intimacy in your relationship, begin by communicating openly and building a relationship with your own body. Your desires are a reflection of your spirit, and taking action on them is how you create change.
Start Today
You can start today. Where do you want to change your life? Do you genuinely want that change? Check-in with yourself: Are you ready to put in the work?
Get organized and take it one step at a time. You’ll notice everything starts to shift, reconnecting you to your intuition and spirit while using your intellect to guide you. Remember, discipline is a good teacher and a loving energy that will help you reach your goals.
